PHUA JUN HAN
Project Leader
Hi there! I am Junhan, Project Leader of Project SSUD III ! I am a sophomore, currently reading political science and marketing at SMU. I like to work out or catch a film when I am free. Also: trips to the bookstore!
Single-use disposables dominate many Singaporeans' lifestyles; the stark difference in our consumption habits as compared to that of other countries is greatly apparent. To effect change in Singapore and in the world, no matter how small, would go a long way in humanity's fight against climate change and environmental challenges - at SSUD, I am able to do just that!

DAPHNE TAY
Project Leader
Hello! I'm Daphne and I'm the project leader for Project SSUD! I'm in the school of social sciences, majoring in Psychology. During my free time, I enjoy doing embroidery and baking !!( smth I picked up during circuit breaker)
I joined SSUD because I believe that a small step can lead a long way and set a good example to the people around us! I want to play a part in helping the community be more mindful of their single-use disposables and make it a better place! :-)

NICOLLE TAN
Head of Programmes
Hi, my name is Nicolle, and I'm a second-year social sciences student. I am part of the Programmes department coordinating fun events to promote BYO habits in SMU! I love scuba diving and eating nice food in my free time. I can't wait to travel again to visit new dive sites!
I joined Project SSUD because I wanted to engage the SMU community to create a collective impact towards reducing plastic waste. When I go diving or attend beach cleanups, the amount of plastic waste in the oceans really shocks and alarms me. Project SSUD has provided me with a platform to contribute in a tangible way towards tackling the issue of plastics through our events like Eco Trade-Ins and the Plastic Pandemic Panel Discussion. Most importantly, it has allowed me to work with an excellent team to create change and connect with other similarly passionate individuals about our environment. I'm glad to have been a part of Project SSUD3. ☺️

ELLIOT TAN
Head of Logistics and Sponsorship
Hey! I'm Elliot and I'm a second-year university student double majoring in political science and organisational behaviour! I am part of the logistics and sponsorships team. In my free time, I enjoy playing my piano and guitar, and learning new languages:)
I joined Project SSUD to step out of my comfort zone. Being environmentally conscious is something I did not give much thought to previously, and I wanted to become more salient about our actions and their environmental impact! I also hoped to practice more environmentally saving habits alongside like-minded people :)

MICHELLE MIRCHANDANI
Head of Marketing
Hi! I'm Michelle, and I am currently pursuing Marketing and Analytics under SMU's School of Business. I'm part of the Marketing team in Proj SSUD.
I joined Project SSUD in order to help other students in SMU make a transition towards a more sustainable lifestyle. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and cycling!

GERALDINE
Programmes
Hi, I'm Geraldine from SOB and the programmes department! One fun fact is that I used to eat a lot and even ate competitively. However, I've since stopped after realising how much food wastage is generated from these competitions :(
I joined SSUD because environmental sustainability is often overlooked and I think it is important to promote it in SMU. I found it difficult to promote it to my friends, so I was hoping I would be better able to reach out to them through SSUD.

HUI YU
Programmes
Hi, I'm Hui Yu from SOB and a member of the programmes department! One fun fact about me is I always tell my friends not to waste plastic because of one reason: save the turtles!
I joined SSUD because this project was an excellent way to promote sustainability to my SMU pals, which I found that it was quite difficult to influence people's behaviours as people tend to favour convenience and therefore are oblivious to their plastic use!

MANASA
Programmes
Hello! I'm Manasa, and I'm a y3 student from SOB. I am currently in the Programmes Department of SSUD. A fun fact about me is that I love cats 🐱.
I joined SSUD because I saw it as a great way to nurture my then newly acquired interest in Sustainability. SSUD would be a great way for me to cultivate more eco-friendly habits into my lifestyle and encourage others to do the same, by making them realize the importance of Sustainability for a better future.

MATEEN
Programmes
Hello, my name is Mateen from the Programmes Department of Project SSUD3, and I am a 2nd-year student majoring in economics. Some fun facts about me are that I am actually mixed race because my dad is Malay and my mom is Chinese, I have a sweet tooth which makes me enjoy sugar to an unhealthy level sadly, and I love watching and playing sports especially basketball, football and climbing!
I joined SSUD because I care about the environment and this project was one way I could make a bigger impact for the SMU community through organising events that help spread our message. It also allowed me to be better at my own individual waste habits, learn more about plastics and other disposables from like-minded individuals, and was also a good opportunity to make new friends along the way!

PEISHAN
Programmes
My name is Peishan. I am from SCIS and the programmes department. Fun fact: I like to declutter things in my free time and I am aware of how wasteful it can get. Hence, I am learning ways to reduce some of this wastage by reusing and repurposing it!
I joined Project SSUD because I want to learn more about environmental sustainability and also spread awareness to people around me. As this is not my expertise, I do really want to learn more on ways to reduce my wastage through BYO and 5 Rs. As time passed, I can see myself obtaining a more environmentally friendly habit. I am grateful to be a part of SSUD and also the opportunity to work with like-minded people.

XIN TONG
Programmes
Hi! I'm Xin Tong from SOB and from the programmes department of Project SSUD! I love sports and currently part of SMU's Dragon Boat team!
I joined project SSUD as I always have been interested in sustainability and I wanted to learn more about it through the project. Being concerned over the issue of plastic waste, I wanted to make a difference in the SMU community and encourage more people to lead a sustainable lifestyle.

HUI WEI
Programmes
Hello! I'm Hui Wei, a year 1 student from SOA under the programmes department! My favourite go-to poke place is Poke Theory because you can get a free $1 topping when you BYO! Get yummy food and save a plastic disposable, so why not?
I joined SSUD as I believe in reducing my own plastic waste and I believed more can be done by everyone in the SMU community.

CINDY
Logistics & Sponsorship
Hi! I'm Cindy from the School of Business and I'm part of the logistics and sponsorship team. I enjoy drawing, playing sports and chilling ~ Fun fact, organising & tidying up stuff is really therapeutic for me!
I joined SSUD because the goals of the project aligned with my own values! Personally, I think it is important to reduce waste asap as our landfill is not finite. It's not difficult to bring our own and I wanted to influence more people to do the same. Through this platform with other like-minded individuals, we came up with different projects to spread awareness in SMU. I was also able to learn more about eco-friendly activities and what I could do more to reduce waste! I'm deeply appreciative of this experience, as a part of SSUD3 :)!

DENISE
Logistics & Sponsorship
Hi, I’m Denise from LKCSB and part of Project SSUD3’s logistics and sponsorship team! Something interesting about me is that I like to collect plants and place them around my room :~)

JANICE
Logistics & Sponsorship
I am Janice from the School of Accountancy and I'm in my first year of study with SMU. I am also part of the logistics and sponsorship team. One of my current hobbies would be to do Russian punch embroidery. I am a very handy person and therefore I enjoy making stuff!
Decided to sign up and join project SSUD as I notice how much waste I have collected and made during the pandemic which makes me realise that I should do something about this and make a change of myself as well as my friends and family to make them more eco-friendly!

VICTORIA
Logistics & Sponsorship
Hey, I'm Vic from the logistics & sponsorships department. A sociology and arts & cultural management major, a lover of all things mint (both as in pristine as well as the tint of green) and an avid thespian - that's me!
I joined project SSUD to find like-minded peers in SMU who were interested in spreading sustainability across the campus in fun and engaging ways, and to learn more about how I could contribute to this cause

NUR
Logistics & Sponsorship
Hi, I'm Nur from SOA and I'm a logistics member. My hobby is relaxing, so any activity that doesn't require me to use my brain is my hobby. Something interesting about me is that I sew my own clothes and I repair the ones that are worn out!
I joined Project SSUD because I was interested in the project's aim of encouraging SMU members to cut down on SSUDs. Just like everyone else, I'm also guilty of using a lot of SSUDs unnecessarily and without much thought, so I joined this Project to become more eco-conscious and realise the impact of my actions.

XUE WEI
Marketing
Hello!! I'm Xuewei from SOB! In my free time, I love baking, cafe hopping and doing yoga!;) Fun fact, I actually have a list of cafes that I wanna visit!!
I joined Project SSUD to gain a better understanding of how to practise BYO habits. I admit that it's not easy but I'm glad to find like-minded people here and it makes it less difficult when you're doing it with friends!!

CHERYL
Marketing
Hello!! I'm Cheryl from the Marketing Department! I am currently a political science major in SMU Social Sciences. A fun fact about me is that I have many hobbies but I love to tan at the beach and work out!!
My passion for environmentalism stems from my love for nature! I love hiking and going to pretty beaches and I wish for future generations to be able to do so too. Hence, I joined SSUD in hopes of spreading awareness on the environment and the many little ways we could do to reduce our waste.

EVAN
Marketing
Hi! My name is Evan, I am a penultimate social science student in SMU and part of the marketing department in Project SSUD3. I love to play squash and my guitar from time to time, and recently I've been picking up film photography as a new hobby.
The reason why I joined SSUD was that I wanted to improve on myself every new year's resolution. And this year, the theme of my betterment resolution is to not only be aware of the surroundings around me but also do whatever I can to improve them. I wanted to reduce my own disposable waste usage (as well as spread awareness to others around me) and become more environmentally conscious so that I can make a contribution to bettering our future.

SHIRINA
Marketing
Hi! I'm Shirina. I'm a year 2 business student who loves sports and fashion! As much as I loved new clothes and getting takeout, every once in a while I was reminded that the lifestyle simply wasn’t sustainable.
I joined SSUD to find a community for growth. The path to sustainability may not be easy, but it was much more fun to embark on this journey together. Through our collective effort to be cleaner and greener, I have learnt new ways to make a difference in my own small way, and of course, people to keep me motivated in making the change for good.

ANDREA
Marketing
What's up, it's your girl Andrea from Project SSUD. I am currently studying at the School of Social Sciences reading Sociology and Arts & Culture Management at the Singapore Management University.
I like long walks on the beach, taking care of my adopted animals and look forward to making a positive impact on our world and hopefully encouraging others to follow suit!
